Summer Front Porch Ideas {2014}

   Our favorite room of the cottage is finally ready for summer! It’s a lot of fun to change the porch around …… we spend A LOT of time out here, so it’s nice to rearrange and spruce it up for each season. Here’s some summer front porch ideas ……..

You could say that this summer’s porch could be called ‘The Year of the Vintage Olive Bucket’. ha! I rounded up all the vintage olive buckets around here and put plants in all of them. I love collecting these and using them in lots of fun ways. They are from Europe and used when olives are being picked and stored. You can find them online or at large flea markets that have vendors that carry European antiques.

Love having the little galvanized envelope by the door for people to leave notes or small items if we’re not at home. {I found it at Target}

I used the back of the Peace Sign to create a sign with the name of our cottage on it… was about time it had a proper sign! =) Now it can pull double duty…..

Love these miniature croquet mallets painted with chalkboard paint…..I’ve used them in some of the pots for fun messages.

Last year we added porch curtains….you can find the how-to here. I absolutely LOVE having them. They add so much to the porch, but are also great for pulling when the sun is streaming through. They still let in the light, while blocking the sun if needed.

The chair cushions are covered in vintage coffee sacks…here’s the how-to.

I freshened up the chicken feeder planters with a few new succulents….we enjoyed them last year, so I wanted to do the same again this year. Here’s the how-to for those.

An old oar hangs above the door… was No. 1 Son’s and is child-sized. Thought it was sooo cute…….
