Summer Cottage Tour

   We loved it as soon as we saw it…..even though we had to look over a lot!  We still have dried hydrangeas from the yard that we picked when we first looked at it.

We have now lived in Oak Cottage for almost 19 years……here’s a quick tour……

Summer Cottage House Tour

Oak Cottage is an authentic Acadian cottage…..or French cottage.  All of the brick from our home were taken from a Civil War home in Virginia, and all of the heart pine floors were reclaimed from an antebellum home in Alabama. We love the character that has been built into the creating of our home…..and for the past 19 years we have had fun making it our own…..and adding our own character! {Click on the highlighted names of each room to go to the post with the details and more pictures; along with the links to the posts from the many DIY projects from each room.}

  4. Thanks for letting us peak into your beautiful home, Daune! I love your style, especially your mix of vintage pieces. My family and I have a long way to go until our home is “finished”, but until then, I enjoy looking at your home for inspiration!

    • Thank you so much, Amy! I don’t think a home ever gets ‘finished’…do you? It’s always changing with the family and reflecting the season that we’re in…or, at least, I hope it does! =) Hugs….

  5. Oh what a lovely home you have. I’ve been stalking this evening. :) I so adore that you used the word Acadian. Our family history, on my husband’s side is Acadian and did not go south to add an X to the end of our name. Most sprang from Maine and Massachusetts but now live in the south.. oh some of us anyhow. Thanks for sharing your beautiful home. ~Heidi
