A Look Back & Moving Forward…….

It’s time to take a quick look back and get ready for moving forward………

I think one of the reasons I love to take pictures is that it documents moments.  It’s so easy to remember the hard times or disappointments or struggles…but when your year has been documented visually, you have proof that there was an abundance of good times, love, providence, and blessings. In case you don’t have Instagram…here’s a quick, 15 second look back at our 2013. God was abundantly good to us….

We have a few end-of-the-year and new year traditions ……. I shared one here on the blog last year: The Burning of the Year

Burning the Year - New Year's tradition

I’m printing my year out today to get ready to burn it before midnight tonight. =) You can read about that yearly tradition here.

Another fun tradition that we like to do is to take all of the Christmas cards that we’ve received and keep them in a stack by the dining room table. Each night at dinner we pick one up, read it, take a minute to talk about the ones that it came from, and then pray for them specifically.

New Year's tradition with Christmas cards

We get a lot of cards….so it sometimes takes us a couple of months or longer to get through all of them. Last year our stack of cards accidentally got thrown away and we didn’t get to this. =( I’ve made sure they are in a safe place this  year! ha! We will start doing this tomorrow…..

Do you have any New Year’s Eve or New Year’s traditions that are important to you? I’d love to hear about them…..

I agree with making sure you look at all the pictures that were taken over the year. It really does help you remember all the GREAT times you had through out the year. I never knew what to do with our Christmas cards, but now you’ve given me a great idea.

So glad you like the idea, Rochelle! I do love going back over the pictures from the past year at the end of the year and remembering all the many great times and cherished moments. Very thankful for cameras! =)
