Vintage Doors ::: Great for Displays at Parties!

I have always loved doors…especially vintage doors.  Several months ago we were give the gift of being able to take out the doors from this wonderful, old farmhouse. So, we now have a stash of old vintage doors….all sizes. Some with glass. Some without. Tall and skinny. Short and squatty. We love them all and have been dreaming up fun ideas of what we can do with them. Tables. Headboards. Wall-coverings.

For our son’s graduation party a few weeks ago we used them as party decor. Since the ‘theme’ was world travel and stepping through new doors of adventure…..they were a perfect fit. We used them in all four corners of the party tent.

For this particular one we strung twine back and forth from side-to-side, and using mini clothespins we clipped pictures of No. 1 Son from teeny baby all the way through to him on The Great Wall of China a few months ago.

We nailed the nails onto the side of the door on both sides.

And then just looped the twine around each nail going back and forth across the door.

I love these little, mini, wooden clothespins I found……..{I think it was at Walmart in the office supply section.}

It was so hard to narrow the pictures down….you can find LOTS of wonderful, special pictures when covering 17 years! I could have chosen hundreds….but I tried to restrain myself. {This is a victory! I’m not all that good as restraining myself!}

This was a fun way to use the doors while we are deciding what we would like to make with them. Actually, I wouldn’t mind keeping some just to use for special occasions to display special things……

Are there any ways that you have used vintage doors?

Walking through lots of new doors lately……..stop. the. world.

  2. Love this idea! Yes, I love vintage doors with lots of character. My creativity is basically to prop them in different rooms for added charm.
