Farmhouse Sink {Finally!}

We have searched for years for a wonderful, vintage farmhouse sink to replace our stainless steel one. Of course, before we were searching for one….we would find them everywhere! ha!  You can quite often get a wonderful old farmhouse sink for around $50-$100 and then have it refurbished for another $50-$100.

But, alas, it was not meant to be.

Then, this past fall, we were in Ikea and discovered that they had exactly what we wanted….and, true to Ikea, it was an incredible price! So, after searching forever…we finally have our great farmhouse sink in place.  And, let me tell ya….it will hide two weeks of dishes!

We chose a Moen faucet …… I had seen this particular faucet in Atlanta when I was there last summer…and I loved it.  I’ll put the links at the bottom of the post for the faucet and the sink; as well as, the quick, YouTube video tutorial that we used to install it.

Here it is going in……

    I am totally in love with farm house sinks. When we redo our kitchen sometime this year… this will be on my list, as well. It sure does look lovely in your kitchen.

    Love the sink! We have an old farmhouse sink with one large side and a built in drain board. I’ve always wanted to plug it in somewhere. And I’ve got the perfect window for above it. This post was so inspirational!

    I too am installing the Ikea farmhouse sink. My question is are your countertops granite! When I told our granite contractor tat I wanted a top mount sink not an under mount he looked at me like I was crazy. Have you had any problems with this ink resting on our granite counter?

      Our countertops are actually formica that I painted to look like Carrara marble! =) But, I’ve never heard of anyone saying that before…I know a lot of people that have granite/marble, etc. countertops and have a top mount sink. Now, I will say, this particular Ikea sink weighs a TON! Maybe it is because this particular one is a way to heavy?

    I have this wonderful sink in my kitchen. I have granite counter tops and it is actually easier to install granite with this sink than any other sink. The sink goes to the wall so there is cutting out for the sink. You just get a straight cut that goes up to the sink. It is wonderful. My cabinet maker built a cabinet to fit the sink, but a bracket comes with the sink so it be mounted on the existing cabinet beside it. I love my sink and am remodeling a very small kitchen and have purchased the 1 bowel sink like it from Ikea. There are also several items to go with it that fits across the sink basin, a cutting board, a strainer and there is one other thing that I can’t remember. I highly recommend this sink. You will not regret it. The quality is top of the line and it cleans up so easy. Love it
