OK…I don’t do too many crafts on here, but I just had to share our 4th of July Crazy Hats and Fans. Special July crafts just for you. You might really need some…..and I don’t want you to miss out.
We made these a few years ago….and still use them every 4th of July. When we go to 4th of July parades or fireworks we have strangers stop us and want our hats and fans.
I keep thinking we are going to get tired of them…but each year we pull them out and have fun with them again. They are super easy to make…..
Here are a couple of our models from the 4th of July photo shoot……

Yours Truly…….
Now, don’t you want one?
Here’s what you need for the hats:
red & white craft foam…..9 x 12 pieces
silver and/or gold pipe cleaners
star stickers
blue duck tape
Here’s how ya do it:
1. Cut the craft foam into 2 1/2″ strips…the long way
2. Alternate red and white strips…laying them side-by-side {5 of each color}
3. Put a gold/silver pipe cleaner every two strips.
4. With the blue duck tape….tape from one end to the other about 3/4″ from the bottom.
5. Now, flip it over and tape the other side as well.
6. With scissors….cut from the top of the ‘hat’ to about 1/2″ above the tape all the way around…so you have lots of ‘fringe’.
7. Place star stickers all around hat on the blue duck tape. And then put some of the stickers on the tips of the pipe cleaners, too.
8. We use a giant paper clip to close the back.
To make the fans….You will need:
blue card stock
white card stock
red duck tape
silver star stickers
wooden stick/paint stick
Here’s how ya do it:
1. For each fan you will need a blue square and white square of card stock cut into 8 1/2″ squares.
2. Center the wooden stick/paint stick in the middle of the blue square with enough sticking out of the bottom for a handle…..glue the stick onto the blue square of card stock.
3. Glue the white square on top of the blue one with the stick.
4. On the blue side stick the silver star stickers all over.
5. On the white side cut strips of red duck tape in half and strip the white square.
Tah-dah!
You can now be cool in more ways than one…..
Hope your week is off to a super start!

Not only are they fun, they are cute too. No wonder folks stop and ask you for them
