When it was time to take down Christmas decorations
I realized that so many of the things we had used on our
front porch for Christmas could still be fun for the rest of winter.
Our live, evergreen wreath still looked great….
so I just put a burlap bow on it and left it in place.
The little metal plaque that is above the wreath reads:
“By wisdom a house is built. And through understanding it is established.
By knowledge its rooms are filled with
precious and beautiful treasures.”
Proverbs 24:3
Even though this scripture isn’t referring to a literal ‘house’…..
I like having it on our literal house as a reminder, a picture of what it is speaking about.
As I have fun decorating and filling our literal house with lovely things…it reminds me
that I need to be doing to same, even more so, with my spiritual ‘house’.
I loved the branches that we stuck in a large pot of dirt….
so, I just took off the glittered pinecones and left the pots of branches in place.
The skis, sled, and ice skates still work for winter, too!
{We are all still hoping for ‘wintery weather’ around here; but I don’t think we will be having any this year.}
Handsome made this fun, double-sided French cafe sign for me a while back;
and we love using it in different spots.
The front porch is my favorite place to use it.
I drew this New Year’s greeting on it for at least January…..
it can easily be changed for different occasions.
The old, wooden ladder holds vintage grain sacks that are too stained to use
for things like pillows, etc……perfect for outside, though.
And we just put our faux snow balls on the table….
still hoping for real ones!
{That wood peeking into the bottom corner of the picture?? That’s the wood that Handsome
is using to build the new sideboard in the dining room with….woohoo! Yippee!}
It was fun using all these things over again for the new season.
I love taking what you already have and using it with a different twist.
Did you repurpose any of your Christmas decorations for
the winter season?

Even though we aren’t getting any snow…..
it’s freezing here in Eastern NC!

Loe your porch. I still have my wreath up as well. I love what you did with the ladder. I recently bought one at a sale. Your porch looks like winter and looks very cozy.
My word is “accomplish”
Great word, Debby!
It looks so welcoming – love the chalkboard sign. I put my sled away – may have to pull it back out!
Kelly
Thanks,Kelly!
So lovely-just a beautiful job—your photos and words are truly refreshing~
Blessings to you, Ladybug!
Hi Daune, I must have sneaked my link in between yours at BNOTP. This is a lovely porch. I really like the Bible verse and your chalkboard sign is just the cutest.
Thanks, Kim! Glad to have you….
Very festive yet simple…nice.
Adore the sign… and the sticks in the pots are the perfect winter texture! Nice job– we’re hoping for a little snow here in ATL as well.
Just a little.
visiting from Tuesday’s, Treasures.
I love branches for winter decor – both inside and out. I am doing a series on using branches in decor on my blog Ashbee Design. Come visit and share.
Just came across your blog though the 2805 Potpouri Linky Party. Yes I love your porch decor. So lovely! The skates, wreath and branches in pots are all great ideas! I am one of your new followers. I can’t wait until I move into my new home in about three weeks so I can decorate my two porches! (screen and front porch).
Have a great weekend!
Oh! Two porches! So jealous….would love to have a screened in porch on the back of our house.
Have a great weekend!
Your front porch looks so sweet and welcoming, even if there’s no snow. It’s nice to change things up a bit but keep the basics. It looks great!
Thanks, Pamela! I had fun pretending…and just adding snow.
Your porch looks so inviting!
Thanks, Lorrie!
I love this! It looks great! Your newest follower and stopping by from show and tell saturday!
So glad to have you, Katie!
Love the look of your Front Porch for Winter. I too every year leave certain things up after Christmas on my Front porch and add snowmen to it to create my outdoor Winter decorations!
