Autumn is a great time to enjoy all the yard sales on Saturdays. {a.k.a. Garage Sales, Tag Sales…..} It’s also a great time to find fun things just driving down the road! So many people clean out in the autumn—someone’s trash might be your treasure.
We’ve made it a game—-when we put things out by the road for trash collection, we make a bet on how long it will take for someone to come by and pick it up before the trash truck can get to it. ha!
Try it this weekend—-check out some of your local yard sales, flea markets, etc. You never know what you might find. Here’s some fun things we discovered on one of our jaunts:
These skis were left out as trash—we nabbed them. They are the same kind of skis in which my grandfather use to ski and compete.
I love this birdhouse made out of old violin parts…..
A stack of vintage books to turn into vintage book bundles…yay!
This great crock with ’2′ on it….I love this!
“Chatterbox” — 3 of them from the 1920′s
A great script from the 1930′s
This fun, little game table that folds up for easy storage….made in the year I was born.
And this great Canada Dry crate.
What have you found lately in unexpected places? {Don’t say your keys in the fridge……..}
Head out to a yard/tag/garage sale this weekend and see what you can find!
Happy Hunting~

I recently had great success at some garage sales here:

Great finds! I love to stumble upon unusual items at yard sales. I’m in the South, and I’m hoping our yard sale season lasts a little longer since it’s still warm. Visiting from the Idea room.
