“Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.”
Deut. 6:9
We have literally done just that!
Each and every doorframe inside our home has either a scripture or special quote written around it.
It’s a great way to remind us each day what we need to think on or be encouraged with.
Over the years many people have hired me to come and write on their walls and doorframes after they have been inside our home. It has been fun!
Here are some of our doorframes…..and the information you need to do this yourself, if you’d like to:
Here’s what you need to do this project:
~ A printed font that you like from the computer {print the whole alphabet–upper and lower case}
~ Enamel paint pen in the color you wish to write
Here’s how you do it:
1. Find a font on the computer that you like—it’s better to just pick one and use it throughout the project.
2. Make a list of the scriptures, phrases, quotes that you would like around the doors.
3. In each scripture, quote, phrase–find the middle letter.
4. Freehand copy the font that you printed out—write the middle letter in the middle of the doorframe space if you are working on the top of the doorframe, and then work backward to the left side of the molding. Then go back and finish the phrase from the middle letter to the end. If you are working on the right side of the doorframe–just start from the top corner and write your saying beginning to end. If you are starting on the left side of the door—begin at the end of the saying and write it backward. This is how to make sure you don’t run out of space!
If you make a mistake—NO WORRIES! Remember: It’s just paint! Use the molding color to cover up your blooper, and when it dries continue your project. {I’ve done this many times!}
You can do this around your doors or windows. I like to freehand write for this project–instead of using cutout vinyl letters. It has much more character and depth than just sticking perfect vinyl letters on something.
Hope your weekend is full of wonderful times and your favorite people!

FABULOUS idea!!
What a cute idea! I may have to do this in my girls’ room!
I actually just was thinking about this the other day! I think I may write the verse ” Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared.
” (Exodus 23:20) on the frame around our front door as a reminder when we leave that He is with us no matter where we go! Im going to feature you on my blog! petuniasescape.blogspot.com
How fun! That would look great! Thanks for the feature!

Well I’m not religious but I LOVE this concept! Even being a renter I can see cutting these out of vinyl on my silhouette! Thanks for the great idea and instruction. Please stop by and share this at my VIP party today… http://designergarden.blogspot.com/2011/08/vip-party-24.html
Vinyl would be GREAT for renters! Super idea…let me know how it turns out if you do it!
How lovely! The Jewish tradition has a mezuzah (a small box containing a scroll with selected scriptures) and we have one for our front door (we’re Messianic Jews – Jews who believe in Jesus) but I’ve been wanting to do something for the other doors as well. I might use vinyl, though, or paper cutouts glued with liquid starch – my husband tends to look at me funny when I bring these projects up! *grin*
How wonderful! We, too, have a mezuzah on our front door. We are Christians–but are also bringing our family up celebrating Jewish holidays and traditions as well—after all, that is our Christian heritage.
So glad you stopped by! Blessings….
